Volunteering

We offer volunteer opportunities for people who live in Blackpool, Fylde & Wyre and aged 19+ through our adult volunteering or 14-15 through our Fylde Coast Be Involved Program. We offer a wide range of opportunites. From URPotential’s allotment and digital champions, to outside organisations who offer youth club volunteers and charity shops! See below for examples of each and how you can get involved!

Adult Volunteering

If you are aged 19+ and interested in volunteering, then contact us to get involved or to find out about our volunteering opportunities.

Volunteer Youth worker – We are always in need of some volunteer youth workers who can support our staff the projects we deliver such as our youth groups or courses and it is a great way to gain some experience in the field of youthwork.

Digital Champion – This is an exciting opportunity to help support Blackpool, Fylde & Wyre residents develop their IT skills. Could you support someone to learn how to keep in touch with friends & family through Skype or Facetime? Use social media safely? Apply for a job? Then you could be one of our digital champions!

Recycle Bike Project – We run a number of bike recycle projects across Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre and are always looking for adult volunteers to share their skills and support the groups

First Aid Club Training: Our First Aid Club training Group is open to anyone but with specific focus on developing skills of people aged 16 plus with disability and learning support needs. We focus on developing skills in first aid and to support people in the community. We work alongside British Red Cross to support adults into volunteering. It’s an active group who enjoy learning new skills and developing friendships and attending social activities.

Allotment: Urban Gardening @ The Patch! Are you aged 14+? Passionate about gardening, being outdoors or building things? Come to our allotment and build on confidence and learn new skills! Grow your own veg to be able to cook and eat!

Admin: To support the admin team at the URPotential office. This would involve supporting with answering phones, filing, making packs up amongst other things! If you would like to volunteer with a lively team and gain new skills and experience then contact the office today!

We are looking for volunteers who:

  • Want to have an input regarding local health services.
  • Are able to work as a team to deliver constructive feedback.
  • Understand the importance of citizen participation.
  • Are able to commit to one training session and two hours each month.

Fylde Coast Be Involved

FCBI works across the 3 Districts Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre. FCBI has to date supported over 1500 young people aged 14 – 25 into volunteering.

The Project Has 4 Main Aims

  1. Pre-volunteering and personal development project for young people
  2. Supported volunteering in the volunteer placement for young people with specific needs
  3. Mentoring and Befriending for young people lacking in confidence as well as developing skills for home grown young people to become mentors and befrienders
  4. Brokerage for young people who can access volunteering with limited or little support

The project enables young people to prepare to take up volunteering opportunities and makes volunteering more accessible to young people, offering support where required based on the individual need of the volunteer
