URPotential Volunteers Sam and Tom Matthews with Fylde Sharks Volunteer Josh Billingham proudly presented a cheque for £1743 to Fylde Sharks disability swimming club this week. They also presented a cheque of £1000 to AKS action.

The volunteers raised the money with the help of Jake Dyas, Taylor Cornall and Jake Bywater AKS students who set up the company Essence candles. The company was set as part of a National competition called Tycoon In Schools. They all worked really hard producing handmade candles and selling them at local stalls and events. The Essence team were also finalists at Buckingham Palace, where they won the overall runner up prize.

Sam and Tom have volunteered for URPotential for over two years where they have been involved with many projects helping their local community. Both of them now teach swimming at Fylde Sharks where their friend Josh is a volunteer swimming assistant. They are all qualified Life Guards.

The six friends wanted to help Fylde Sharks get the waiting time down for disabled swimmers and fund vital equipment .All of them thoroughly enjoyed the challenge. They are all now busy studying for their AS levels until their next venture.
