Post: Engagement & Participation Worker to cover Blackpool Area
Hours: Full Time – 37 hours per week
Salary: JNC Pay Scale 14 : £24,243.00
Proposed start date: 1st September 2017 this is a 3 year Contract to August 2020

About the role:
You will work as part of the URPotential Targeted Youth team, specialising in youth engagement. You will be expected to develop positive professional relationships, and support participation and engagement in youth-led engagement programmes, projects and contracts.
You will also lead the delivery of several engagement and participation mechanisms which include: virtual engagement; a new membership system; the coordination of a Peer Educators programme and organisation of inclusive activities. You will also lead projects focused on strengthening young people’s voices and influence, in line with URPotential’s vision and values.

The Engagement and Participation Worker will be responsible for;
● Supporting the development and delivery of youth-led engagement programmes and projects
● Recruitment and continuous training of Peer Educators
● Delivery of Blackpool Youth Voice, social action and decision making processes across the organisation: locally, regionally and nationally
● Delivery of decision making frameworks that enable the voice of young people
to inform the design, delivery and evaluation of all projects/ programmes of
youth work
● Ensuring that the voice of young people is evidenced and the value/ impact of
engagement is being demonstrated
● Working with key stakeholders to support Blackpool Youth Voice in fulfilling
it’s democratic role within the governance arrangements of URPotential
● Supporting young people to lead national campaigns eg the election of the
Blackpool Member of UK Youth Parliament and Make Your Mark Ballot
● Championing the voice of those seldom heard and vulnerable groups,
particularly children with disabilities and children in care, to ensure they have
equal voice in decision making

We are looking for someone who has:
At least three years’ experience of working with young people/ youth work or similar,
experience in delivering engagement activities/ projects /programmes/events
and who works in a proactive and inspiring way with children and young people
