Youth Volunteering

Fylde Coast Be Involved is a youth volunteering project which targets 14 to 25 year old young people who are living on Fylde, Wyre and Blackpool. (The Fylde Coast). The project enables young people to prepare to take up volunteering opportunities or makes volunteering more accessible to young people, offering support where required based on individual need of the volunteer. FCBI provides supported volunteering opportunities to those who may require additional support.

We provide training for young people including, Moving into Volunteering accredited course, ASDAN Community Volunteering Qualification, employability, health and safety, food hygiene, customer service etc, as well as support to  organisations who host young people.

We have 3 Youth Action Teams(YAT) who each cover the 3 areas on the Fylde Coast. The YATS support the youth worker to deliver Volunteer training and training in schools, colleges, peer mentoring accredited courses and  basic youth work/ accredited youth work courses.

We support the Blackpool Volunteer Youth Forum and have 4 youth led groups which provide a stepping stone to building  young people’s confidence and support them into volunteering: drama, art, youth image, peer mentors.

Direct Youth Service delivery

Bespoke packages including approaches that use peer mentors, befriending groups and accredited targeted training. We provide innovative methods to engage with young people within local communities to develop their capacity and to enable them to become active citizens in their environment.

We particularly work with young people aged 13 to 25 who are NEET, at risk of being NEET, require brief intervention support  and/or who have additional needs. We are currently commissioned by Lancashire Youth Services to deliver NEET projects for the next 2 years.

Training Services

We deliver accredited and non accredited courses for people, projects and companies within local communities and workplace settings. We deliver a variety of courses ranging from ranging from confidence building for women only to employability, peer mentoring to Youthwork, safeguarding to health and safety, volunteering qualifications to media and functional skills.  Alongside bespoke courses specifically tailored to meet individuals needs. We specialise in training for organic home grown youth and community workers. We use fully qualified tutor and youth and community workers to  deliver the training and projects to ensure all our community receive a excellent service.

Through our training we aim to:

Create appropriate and relevant opportunities for workforce development and opportunities through vocational learning and skills development for communities and individuals. In particular young people through youth volunteering who are hard to reach, NEET, alongside women only, LGB&T, adults with disabilities &long term unemployed as well as communities of need and interest.

Deliver needs led and bespoke accredited training & taster courses to communities and their members, including:

  • Moving into Volunteering
  • Community Volunteering Awards EL3 – L1
  • Community  Volunteering
  • Qualification Level 1 -3, peer mentoring for volunteers
  • Employability award EL3 – L2, Health & Safety
  • Preparing to Teach in the Life Long Sector and Youth work/Working with vulnerable young people( JNC Level 2 & 3).

Pilot Post Graduate Scheme

We are pleased to announce our new pilot Graduate Scheme which we recently launched this month. We have been able to support a post graduate for the next 2 years to study for a BA post grad Youth and Community Degree. This is a pilot project and we are hoping we can continue to support one young person every 2 years. April Pollitt will commence her studies at Cumbria University in Sept 2012 and will be on placement with us as a Youth and Community worker working with young people on a NEET project across the region.

Apprenticeship Scheme

NEW YOUTH AND COMMUNITY VACANCIES FOR FCBI PROJECT

YOUTH & COMMUNITY FIELDWORKER VACANCIES

 UR Potential has 3 part time vacancies for youth workers to work with the Fylde Coast Be Involved Project, across Blackpool, Fylde & Wyre recruiting 14 to 25 year olds into volunteering. Each post is for 12 months commencing 1st November 2012 until 31st October 2013.  The posts are 18 hours per work and candidates must be able to work flexible hours.

Purpose of Job

To recruit, place & support young people aged 14 to 25 in volunteer placements, in one of the three areas, Blackpool, Fylde or Wyre, to identify and secure high quality voluntary placements, to deliver training, set up youth action teams in all areas, set up youth led projects in all areas, to achieve all targets set, meet deadlines, produce monthly reports, liaise with statutory, private, public and VCFS groups, sit on various forums representing FCBI and obtain funding for youth led groups with young people.

Salary       JNC Scale 3,   Points 7-12   £20,013.00 (pro rata)

Fylde Coast Be Involved Project attracts Lottery Funding for 5 years

 

We are delighted to announce we have been successful in the Reaching Communities grants programme and has received funding for the next 5 years for our Fylde Coast Be Involved Youth Volunteering Project. This means we can now offer substantive services across Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre to young people aged 14 to 25 and to organisations to involve more young people in their organisations. Young People’s Mystery Shopping Project Starts September 2012

Are you interested in making a difference to the service young people receive in Blackpool?

 Do you want to be part of a unique youth led team of mystery shoppers?

 Do you want to gain an accredited qualification?

 Are you available for 2 days training in September and to meet at approximately 4 times to  complete a mystery shopping exercise?

Certificate in Sports Level 1 sign up on Friday 29th June at Claremont First Step Centre 10 – 4pm

Starting in July at The Oracle aimed at those preparing to embark on a career in the Sport and Active Leisure Industry, or wishing to practically participate in a number of activities. They are practical, hands-on qualifications which are designed to prepare the candidate for work in a multitude of sport and leisure facilities and raise awareness of how and where to participate in sporting opportunities.
