Job: Wyre and Fylde Youth and Community Worker for LGBT Project

Rate of pay: Based on JNC Professional range point 11

Hours: 14hrs per week

Length of contract: 12months

URPotential provides research and consultancy, accredited training and volunteering opportunities to young people, adults, families and the community and targeted youthwork. We work with young people, families, communities and organisations developing capacity across the North West through training and accreditation. We are an accredited centre for a number of awarding bodies including: AQA, Open Wards, ABC as well as Mentoring and Befriending Foundation. Alongside this we have a number of youth projects including Fylde Coast Be Involved Youth Volunteering and targeted youth provision.

We have a vacancy to work within our very successful LGB& T project, to deliver LGB&T youth provision in Fylde & Wyre. The overall aims of the project are:

  • To engage & support young Wyre & Fylde LGB& T people aged 11 – 25 in group work, 1 to1 work, training & events
  • To ensure young Wyre & Fylde LGB&T peoples voices are heard and that they are an integral part in the reviewing and designing of key services and projects.
  • To support families of young LGB& T people through a peer-led support group

We are looking to recruit a highly motivated specialist youth & community worker with experience in supporting vulnerable young people and meeting targets, with sound assessment skills to deliver this work. Providing specialist support to each young person The post holder will be responsible for action plans with young people, to improve health & wellbeing, build on resilience, and to support young people to consider options to improve their emotional health and well being.

Pension: new employees will be enrolled onto URPotential’s company pension scheme

Travel: Travelling expenses will be paid for all journeys required for work, excluding travel from home to base.   The current rates are 40p per mile for the first 10,000 miles per year and 25p per mile thereafter.

The nature of the post will require travel across the area.  A full driving licence, appropriate insurance cover and use of a car is essential.
